Lodi dynasty

Bahlul Lodi - He was the founder of the Lodi dynasty. This was an Afghan origin dynasty. Bahlul Lodi invited all his relatives and friends from Afghanistan to share power and responsibilities. They were accorded respectable position but the later ruler did not follow the same policy.

Sikandar Lodi - Bahlul Lodi was succeeded by Sikandar Lodi. He laid the foundation of 'the city of Agra'. He also introduced a new scientific unit of measurement known as 'Gaj-i-Sikandari'.

Ibrahim Lodi - The last rule of Lodi dynasty was Ibrahim Lodi who was very rude and aggressive. It is said that he controlled one of the strongest army of that time but in the First Battle of Panipath in 1526, he was defeated by a general from Ferghana valley (Uzbekistan), Zahir-ud-din Babar.
Babar was able to defeat the strong army of Lodis due to intelligent war strategy of Tulugma and also for the first time in India gunpowder was operated through cannons (gunpowder was known to India since ancient time but it was used in cannons for the first time during first battle of Panipath)

It is said that Ibrahim Lodi's uncle Daulat Khan Lodi (governor of Punjab) invited Babar to attack on Lodis as he wanted to take revenge. Ibrahim Lodi humiliated and insulted Daulat Khan Lodi. Initially, Babar hesitated but after the assurance of Rana Sanga of Mewar, Babar decided to attack on Lodis.
It was not clear that Rana Sanga himself assured Babur or it was just a plot by Daulat Khan Lodi. But the assurance was enough for Babar to come to India which marked the beginning of new era in Indian sub-continent.
