1.   Land Holders Society (1837-38) 

  • Founder - Dwarkanath Tagore and Radhakant Dev
  • Purpose - To protect the interests of Zamindars

2.   British India Society of Bengal (1843) 
  • Founder - George Thompson
  • Purpose - To protect/safeguard the rights of common public

  • Land holders society and British India Society of Bengal in 1851 merged to form a new organisation named British India Association.

3.   British India Association (1851) 
  • The merger was possible due to the efforts of Radhakant Deb.
  • Purpose - To protect/safeguard the rights of zamindars and common people.

4.   Bombay Association (1851) 
  • Founder - Dada Bhai Naoroji
  • Purpose - Demanding legislative council for Indians

5.   East India Association (1866) in London 

6.   Indian Association of Calcutta (1876) 
  • Founder - Surendra Nath Banerjee and Anand Mohan Bose
  • Purpose - To protect against the reactionary measures taken by Viceroy Lytton.

7.   Madras Mahajan Sabha (1884) 
  • Founder - V. Raghava Cheriar, T. Anand Charly and G. Subramanian Iyer
  • Purpose - To create a political organisation for demanding political and legislative rights for Indians.

8.   Bombay Presidency Association 
  • Founder - K.T. Telang, Pheroz Shah Mehta and Badruddin Taiyabji
  • Purpose - For demanding political and legislative rights for Indians.
